Reunión de Damas

 Our last big project before heading to the jungle was a reunión de damas (ladies meeting) for the ladies in our church.

Lidia and I prepared it all!  We even made cute flowers from old book pages (here are the directions for the spiral roses, the lilies, and the larger 5 petal flower).  They looked so cute all laid out on the table!

We made brown sugar coconut chewies (which we turned into bars because they cook better :), tuna avocado sandwiches (since it was holy week), and oreo truffles.  The ladies enjoyed the little bocaditos (and loved taking the extras home ;)

 Our theme for the meeting was ¿Conozco a mi Dios?  (Do I know my God?).  We based our ideas on a book we read by Mardi Collier.  Her idea was to keep a journal of the attributes of God and jot down Bible references as she came across them in her devotions.  

We started out the evening playing a few games that involved knowing something about Bible characters and the other people in the group.  We also tried the "spray paint and lace" pinterest project, which actually worked really well!

Lidia and I both prepared to share a Psalm with the ladies.  We wanted to teach them how they could use their new notebooks as a way to list the attributes of God to refer back to :) 

It was really a blessing to spend time in God's Word with these ladies!  Even though our church family here is very small, it's great to see each believer's growth over the past year :)
