La Merced {the jungle}

So, we went to the Jungle.  First jungle experience in the high jungle of Perú, in the Andes Mountains :)  We left Lima on Saturday morning and came back Wednesday evening.  It was about an 8 hour bus ride (if you don't count all the times our poor driver was stopped by bribe-wanting police...)

 Our adventure started with a stop at our highest point during our ARRIBA adventure, at 16,000 feet!  High altitude is something completely different, kinda made me feel a little sick but no worries, I recovered quickly :)  The Andes mountains are beautiful!  I loved driving our way through God's fabulous creation, complete with waterfalls on every corner :)  While we were in the jungle, we stayed at Camp Kimo.  Every day, we had to take a cable car to get back and forth over the river!  Adventure was the name of this trip :)

 In between meals and class time,  we hiked through sections of the jungle and the surrounding area.  We saw beautiful waterfalls (and did plenty of hiking in search of another waterfall ;)

Can anyone say bugs in the jungle?  Yup, there are tons!  Especially these little blackish ones that you don't see until your leg is welting up and is extremely ichy...  And spiders.  And possibly some cockroaches ;)

On our way home, we also stopped at a cave for a quick tour.  Our guides brought ropes that we used to climb up and down steep formations in the cave.  When we got to the back if the cave, we turned off all of lights and sang "There is a Redeemer."  It was a great picture of all the people who are stumbling through the darkness of life without a Redeemer.  I am ever so thankful for my Redeemer!
